The Origin
A Problem Every Operator Knows
In 2019, Dr. Amara Diallo was conducting a safety audit for ICAO across West Africa. Flying between remote airstrips, she realized that the intelligence gap between a commercial pilot landing at Heathrow and a bush pilot landing in Mali was catastrophic — not for lack of technology, but for lack of accessible systems.
She partnered with Yuki Tanaka, who had spent years building the geospatial infrastructure at Google Maps, and together they asked: what if every operator on Earth — aircraft, car, ship, or bike — had access to the same precision intelligence for their next landing?
That question became Landers. In six years, we've grown from a two-person startup in a London garage to a global team of 280+ people serving 5 million operators across 190+ countries. But the mission is unchanged: intelligence for every landing, everywhere.
